Firstly, we highlight the main insights and contributions of Maurice Halbwachs’ theory of collective memory and, secondly, we draw the further developments by the Memory Studies. We point out some conceptual issues within these works regarding memory’s ontological status. The Phenomenon of Memory from a Sociological Standpoint: An Ontological Approach in the Light of Maurice Halbwachs’ Work
The article explores the main concepts and ontological status of memory within Social Sciences. Firstly, we highlight the main insights and contributions of Maurice Halbwachs’ theory of collective memory and, secondly, we draw the further developments by the Memory Studies.
