This study provided investigator insight and knowledge of current issues impacting investigations, focusing on issues related to the law and prosecutions. Specifically, two key Supreme Court of Canada decisions were identified as having significant impact on homicide investigations. Limiting factors regarding the law and prosecutions included case law developments impacting privacy issues, warrant requirements, disclosure, and prosecution timelines, which continue to challenge homicide investigators.
