La agricultura familiar: su relación con el abastecimiento alimentario a nivel familiar

In the northern highlands of Ecuador, the family strategy for access to food is manifested through a diversity of factors. Specifically in the provinces of Carchi and Imbabura, there are activities directly related to food supply to the domestic market. Peasant families achieve diversification in their food through the family strategy which consists of a set of factors that include the production for their own consumption and for merchandizing, but especially family and social networks (social capital). Family agriculture as a central provider of supply to the domestic market, in addition should feed the family that develops this type of agriculture.
