Patient Satisfaction with and Knowledge of Their Prescription Drug Coverage
MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: An interval-level scale was used to measure satisfaction, knowledge of issues of prescription drug coverage, and demographics. Member satisfaction was factor-analyzed into dimensions of service and network quality. The effects of demographic and plan characteristics and member knowledge on satisfaction were determined by t-tests and one-way analyses of variance (ANOVAs), and confirmed by general linear models procedures. Chi-squared analyses and logistic regression were used to determine the effect of demographics on patient knowledge. RESULTS: Respondents were very satisfied with the service and network quality of their prescription drug plans. Member demographic characteristics had little influence on satisfaction; however, having a choice of plan a,nd overestimating certain aspects of coverage significantly influenced satisfaction. Respondents overestimated the scope of their drug coverage and network of pharmacy providers; however, there were few disparities in knowledge
