These pieces of strands are mechanically bent into loops and cast into the concrete at the necessary embedment and projection above the surface to ensure safe lifting of the element. Prestressing strands are more commonly used than other lifting anchors because they are readily available and exhibit high strength and ductility properties, as well as being flexible and economical.
