Pulmonary embolism as a cause of cardiac arrest in a patient after a stroke

The patient was stable and after 7 days was released home with anticoagulant therapy. CONCLUSION: Even though the incidence of pulmonary embolism in a patient after a stroke is estimated to be around 1%, it has been accounted for over 50% of early deaths following a stroke. Therefore, the importance of thromboprophylaxis after a stroke is one of the quality measures in many stroke units around the world.
