Of all these theories, with respect to free radical theory, oxygen species occurring in the wake of extrinsic and intrinsic factors may trigger senescence and accelerate the aging process. Another reason for free radical generation is decrement of antioxidants and its components intake in diet. Astaxhantin (ASTX) has more antioxidant activity than other carotenoids. Because of this property, astaxhantin may be a substantial antioxidant source in the diet.
