The number and species composition of terrestrial mammals have been quantifyd, and the biological and ecological conditions of the island's theriofauna have been partially studied. The results suggest that the systematic list of the fauna of the terrestrial mammals of the southern part of Urup includes three species: common fox (Vulpes vulpes), American mink (Neovison vison), rat gray, or pass (Rattus norvegicus) Mus musculus.
