Nowadays, there are three types of dictionaries that can be used, namely, dictionaries in book form, digital and online. Based on a year of observations, most Mandarin learners prefer a dictionary in book form compared with digital and online form. In Yogyakarta province, not all the dictionaries on the market are fulfill the quality standards, as we see from several dictionaries which was reviewed and analyzed. The results from our analysis showed that the Mandarin dictionaries on the market is not following the principles in Mandarin language, whether in terms of spelling, vocabulary, Han characters and sentence examples. The Mandarin learners need a dictionary to facilitate their learning. Nowadays, there are three types of dictionaries that can be used, namely, dictionaries in book form, digital and online.
