Importantly, the collection also draws on and introduces readers to a rich array of primary sources in both manuscript and print and the processes by which these have been produced, gathered, disseminated, and annotated, ensuring that the volume provides not only a summary of existing scholarship, but also points to opportunities for future research: ‘the manuscript records of the congregations of Christ that reveal, often in the most beautiful and powerful terms, what being a Dissenter really meant’ (p. 493).
