The view given of the press, particularly Western journalists and media in China that to a certain degree represented Western interests, suggests the complexity of the Nationalist government in its relations with Western powers, the Japanese, and the Communists in the 1930s and 1940s. Thus, we may anticipate that the publication of the Chinese edition of the book by the Social Sciences Academic Press in 2020 will provide more trans-national insights for Chinese academia in understanding the intricate networks among journalists, politicians, military leaders, and diplomats during the War of Resistance.
