Optimization of Unrepeatered Optical Links with Probabilistic Shaping for Heterogenous Propagation Regimes
The impact of probabilistic shaping in unrepeatered optical communication links operating in the linear, quasi-linear, and nonlinear regimes is investigated. System performance is evaluated considering both uniform and Maxwell-Boltzmann distributions at three different representative launch power levels. Results show shaping-induced gains for all investigated scenarios.
