Corak Penggunaan Platform Pengajaran dan Pembelajaran di Institusi Pondok di Kedah
Kedah Zakat School (SZK) adapts the educational system of a lodge institution that practises and emphasises a learning method known as talaqqi, which is a face-to-face interaction between pupil and teacher. However, when the COVID-19 epidemic spread in the country and the Movement Control Order was enforced, schools began implementing teaching and learning methods at home through digital platforms. This method is antithetical to the practice of learning in a collegiate manner that has been practised by SZK since its inception. Therefore, issues such as the level of acceptance and effectiveness of teaching and learning via digital platforms have become a concern for many parties, especially teachers and pupils such as the communities at SZK who have been ingrained in the practice of talaqqi since time immemorial. Therefore, this study was conducted to identify the digitalisation patterns at SZK pertaining to the usage of digital platforms for the purpose of teaching and learning based on Social Cognitive Theory (SCT). The findings show that smartphones and laptops have the highest percentages of usage among teachers and students compared to tablets, desktop computers, television, mobile internet, home internet (Streamyx, Unifi), mobile broadband internet, ear/headphones, and web cameras in teaching and learning during PdPR. The findings also show that the usage of PdPR digital platforms is more intensive among teachers than pupils in SZK. Based on the findings of the study regarding the patterns of digital platform usage and learning in the communities of Kedah Pondok Institutions, there are implications from the perspective of Social Cognitive Theory, where there are interrelationships between personal needs, behaviour, and environment in the usage of digital platforms by teachers and students.
