Outcomes of type 2 diabetes care in a tertiary hospital in the Federal Capital Territory, Nigeria
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease and monitoring of biochemical parameters like Low Density Lipoproteins (LDL), High Density Lipoproteins (HDL), total cholesterol, triglyceride, HbAIc and anthropometric indices, blood pressure, may reduce complications associated with it. The objective of the study is to assess the clinical outcome of diabetes care in a tertiary healthcare facility, determine the extent of glycaemic control and to access the incidence of complication. A prospective cross sectional study was conducted on outpatients who met the inclusion criteria. Data were gathered on demographic, biochemical and anthropometric parameters. Descriptive statistics were computed and sampled characteristics were compared using student’s t-test. There were fifty-four (54) eligible respondents; mean age was 52.50 + 10.577 years.
