When these method are applied to MRI, it has been necessary to experimentally decide parameters in order to get best performances. In this paper, we propose a novel algorithm for the automatic extraction of brain tissues from MRI. This algorithm is called the non-parametric region growing (NPRG) method which does not need the parameter.
