Birnirk。

The article presents information on ancient sites at Nunyamo in Chukotka. The first exploration works in this area were carried out by N. N. Dikov in the late 1950s. The scholar attributed the identified locations to the neo-Eskimo cultures (Old Bering. Birnirk. and Punuk). The inhabitants of these places were involved in sea mammal hunting. Surface assemblage collected by local residents in 1977 is also considered. These materials complement the idea of ancient Eskimos cultures and the Nunyamo tool kit. Many lithic tools from the Nunyamo site are similar to the materials of Alaska's early maritime cultures, the Wrangel Paleo-Eskimo site, and settlements of the Old Bering Sea period. Bone tools are typical for the Old Bering Sea and Punuk cultures. The discussed archaeological finds indicate the potential for further study of ancient Eskimos cultures in this area.
