Recently, genetic analyses confirmed the casual role for SORLA in AD, as coding variants and single nucleotide polymorphisms of SORL1 (gene encoding SORLA) were identified in individuals affected by early-onset AD and late-onset AD, respectively. However, many other different types of ligands were found to target the receptor, thus strongly indicating that SORLA can exert multifunctional activities.
