Since the outbreak of SARS in 2002, the amount of patent applications of coronavirus vaccine reached the peak in 2003. Since the outbreak of Middle East respiratory syndrome in 2012, there was a small increase on the amount of patent applications of coronavirus vaccine from 2012 to 2015.
