Archeological Theories and Interpretations

Dr. Haury, since 1937, has been Head of the Department of Anthropology, University of Arizona, and, since 1938, Director of the Arizona State Museum. Best known for his archeological activities in the southwestern United States, he has also conducted field research in Colombia on the Chibcha. A Guggenheim Fellow, 1949-1950, and the 1950 Viking Fund Medalist in Archeology, Dr. Haury is President-elect (for 1956) of the American Anthropological Association. His principal publications are The Mogollon Culture of Southwestern New Mexico, 1936; with others, Excava? tion at Snaketown, Material Culture, 1937; and, with others, The Stratigraphy and Archaeology of Ventana Cave, Arizona, 1950.
