La “vieja métrica” medieval: principios y fundamentos
Medieval meter needs to be studied according to the rules set by grammarians, poets and authors of treatise in the Middle Ages. Only in this way can one identify those principles that guided verse writing. In these verses there is a permanent search for regularity in intonation, stress and rhythm. Thus, applying criteria established in other periods of history would mislead us to understand a living and ever-changing subject that has its own rules and arts.
