A brief historic progress made over the period is discussed in terms of origin of metagenomics to its current state and also the discovery of novel biological functions of commercial importance from metagenomes of diverse habitats. 摘要

近年来,宏基因组学已成为一种独立于培养方式挖掘隐藏微生物宝藏的有力工具。近二十年来,宏基因组学已被广泛应用于挖掘几乎所有生境中微生物群落的潜在潜力。从宏基因组学的起源到目前的状态,以及从不同栖息地的宏基因组中发现的具有商业重要性的新生物学功能,简要地讨论了这一时期取得的历史性进展。本综述还强调了宏基因组学的范式转变,从群落组成的基础研究到洞察微生物群落动态,以利用未培养微生物的全部潜力,更强调突破性发展的含义,即下一代测序,先进的生物信息学工具和系统生物学。
