Modern Medical Journal, formerly known as Railway Medicine, was originally published by the Ministry of Railways, Nanjing Railway Medical College and China Railway Society Medical Committee. It was founded in 1964, ceased publication in 1966, and resumed publication in 1976, and is now a monthly magazine with public circulation at home and abroad.In April 2000, Nanjing Railway Medical College merged with Southeast University, and approved by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Press and Publication Administration of the People's Republic of China, Railway Medicine was renamed as Modern Medicine from the 2nd issue of 2002, and the new number was CN32-1659/R, and the supervising unit was changed to the Ministry of Education and the organiser was changed to Southeast University. Ministry of Education and the organiser was changed to Southeast University. Modern Medical Journal is a comprehensive medical journal, using intermediate and senior health workers as the main readers, mainly reporting the advanced experience, scientific research results and basic medical research closely integrated with practice of medical and health workers in clinical medicine, preventive medicine, imaging medicine and so on. The journal is equipped with columns of expert forum, treatise, experience exchange, clinical case discussion, review, case report, misdiagnosis and mis-treatment, traditional Chinese medicine and so on.

《现代医学》前身为《铁道医学》，原由铁道部主管、南京铁道医学院和中国铁道学会医学委员会共同主办出版。创刊于1964年，1966年停刊，1976年复刊，现为月刊。2000年4月，南京铁道医学院与东南大学合并，经国家教育部、科技部和新闻出版署批准，《铁道医学》从2002年第2期起更名为《现代医学》，新刊号为CN32-1659/R，主管单位改为教育部，主办单位改为东南大学。《现代医学》为中国科技论文统计源期刊，即中国科技核心期刊，多年来，该刊一直被《中国核心期刊（遴选）数据库》、《中国学术期刊综合评价数据库》、《中国科学引文数据库》、《中国期刊网》、《中国学术期刊（光盘版）》、《中文科技期刊数据库》、《万方数据资源系统》、《天元数据网》全文收录，同时被《中国药学文摘》、《中国医学文摘》各分册收录。1999年荣获第三届江苏省优秀期刊奖，2000年在首届《CAJ-CÐ规范》执行评优活动中获“执行优秀奖”。《现代医学》是一本综合性医学刊物，以中高级卫生工作者为主要读者对象，主要报道医疗卫生工作者在临床医学、预防医学、影像医学等方面的先进经验、科研成果以及与实践密切结合的基础医学研究。《现代医学》设有专家论坛、论著、经验交流、临床病例讨论、综述、个案报道、误诊误治、中医中药等栏目。《现代医学》为国内外公开发行，定价：20.00元/期，240.00元/年，邮发代号28-69，全国各地邮局订购。
