Abstract

In this paper, a novel planar array antenna with filtering functionality is presented. The main idea is to integrate both the antenna and filter with a combined treatment. The coupled radiating resonators are effectively adopted to obtain a fourth degree steep roll-off filtering antenna (filtenna). The proposed antenna is a 2*2 cavity-backed slot array antenna built by substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) technology. The proposed slot array filtenna take the advantages of total size reduction, efficient utilization of RF power and spectrum as well as enhanced signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).
