Abstract

The use of multiple antennas at the transmitter and receiver results in enormous capacity increase. However, the performance of many current space-time architectures like vertical Bell Laboratories layered space-time (V-BLAST) is not optimal in the maximum likelihood (ML) sense. In this paper, we propose a new detection algorithm that aims at improving the detection performance. The algorithm combines optimal detection and original V-BLAST detection algorithm using fuzzy logic control (FLC). With little increase in the computational power, a fairly significant improvement in error performance over original V-BLAST algorithm is achieved.
