The AMC ground plane is realized by using low cost planar square split ring resonators (SRRs) printed on a thin PEC backed dielectric substrate. First, the performances of the proposed AMC surface is investigated and then a comparative investigation has been conducted to study the radiation characteristics of dipole antennas closely and parallel above an ideal PEC surface and the proposed AMC structure.
