Abstract
The increase of the population and the world development led to increase the demand of electrical energy overall the world and specially in Iraq where the population rate was grown rapidly in the last 20 years. In this paper, modelling and simulation of the Iraqi 400 kV super grid has been provided. The model introduced in this paper and all performed studies are considered as the first step in the way towards grid assessment for increasing the penetration of photovoltaic generation in Iraq. In addition, this paper provided load flow study, transient stability cases, modal/eigenvalues calculation, and short circuit impacts on the generating units in the power system. The network was modeled and all results are performed using DIgSILENT PowerFactory simulation program.
