Abstract

Shifting medium is a kind of metamaterial, which can optically shift a space or an object a certain distance from the original place. In this paper, two shifting slabs covering the transmitting coil are proposed based on the concept of shifting medium to enhance the magnetic coupling of a two-coil wireless power transfer system. The electromagnetic parameters of the shifting slabs are calculated by transformation optics. Numerical simulations are performed to validate that the shifting slabs could approximately shift the transmitting coil; thus, the mutual magnetic coupling between the two coils is enhanced.
