Abstract

In rehabilitation medicine, the need for therapy for exercising patients is becoming important. Up to date, physical therapists have not known patient vital signs exactly during physical therapy. This paper focuses on the measurement and analysis of biomedical signals using the telemetry technique with portable devices for exercising patients. The system measures the patient heart rate and respiration rate simultaneously and the collected signals are transmitted by a portable unit and received by a stationary device that is combined with a PC for analyzing and displaying in real time. This paper concentrates on removing unnecessary noise and motion artifacts using compensation hardware and software algorithms. The system could help to calculate the patient's present quantity of exercise and compare it with the maximum quantity of exercise of physiological permission to decide the term of physical therapy and check the patient's vital safety.
