To reveal the rule of abnormal heating, we conducted the experiments. Several studies have been conducted on a heating composite insulator serviced in China. Discharge and abnormal heating was observed under different working condition and the insulator was dissected in order to test the electric property. The experiment shows that the change of electric property is of great importance in abnormal heating, which is conductive to the accurate judgement of the interface failure. The abnormal heating phenomenon is in highly relative to the partial discharge in interface of the composite insulator. Abstract

Abnormal heating problems caused by interface failure is a common phenomenon in Power System while the mechanism of abnormal heating hasn't been fully researched. To reveal the rule of abnormal heating, we conducted the experiments. Several studies have been conducted on a heating composite insulator serviced in China. Discharge and abnormal heating was observed under different working condition and the insulator was dissected in order to test the electric property. The experiment shows that the change of electric property is of great importance in abnormal heating, which is conductive to the accurate judgement of the interface failure. The abnormal heating phenomenon is in highly relative to the partial discharge in interface of the composite insulator.
