Visual analysis of the international wellness tourism WOS literature from 1992 to 2019

Abstract

ABSTRACT Quantitative analysis of 2154 documents from the Web of Science Wellness tourism field (1992–2019) with the help of Citespace software. The authoritative journals in the field of Wellness tourism have emphasis on theories, methods, demonstrations, and applications; U.S. and Canadian institutions top the list, and Chinese scholars need to increase their international academic influence; The research hotspots in the past ten years have gradually shifted from focusing on the impact of tourism resources such as physical health, psychological health, hot spring tourism on wellness tourism, to areas such as tourist satisfaction, destination management, and performance management in an international context; attitudes continue to be hot research topics in international tourism; wellness tourism can be subdivided into 11 mainstream studies of medical tourism, customer retention, case studies, cross-border patient mobility, natural therapy, cross-border reproductive therapy, organ transplant tourism, tourism satisfaction, stem cell tourism, scope review, and medical benefits field.
