Abstract

Several fractal parameters have intrinsic differences between natural background and the man-made targets. These fractal differences present us a new approach for target detection. The research indicates that it is an effective method for detecting the man-made objects from a simple background by using a single fractal feature. For target detection in complexity environment, we calculate the differential box-counting (DBC) of the image according to Sarkar and Chaudhuri's approach, and then use the probabilistic relaxation iteration algorithms (PRIA) to enhance the fractal features. Experimental results demonstrate the proposed method is feasible and effective
