Abstract
This paper describes the comparative analysis carried out on the closed loop operation of the current controlled boost converter with normal pulse width modulation and with Random modulation. With the normal pulse width modulation the converter is operated periodically and the EMI is measured. Using Random modulation the converter is forced to work chaotically and hence the EMI is measured. A comparative investigation on the use of Random modulation against the normal pulse width modulation is performed. FFT analysis is used for the comparison and it is found that the use of random modulation reduces EMI effectively. Simulated results validate the experimental results.
