Abstract
The effect of transformation of slow grating modes into fast ones and vice versa is considered theoretically and implemented for the clinotron beam-wave interaction model. Strong resonant properties of a clinotron due to fast waves transformations were theoretically predicted even in the case of strong attenuation of the surface mode. Experimental study of the 300 GHz CW clinotron has been carried out. Simulation results were compared with experimental ones, elucidating strong resonances in a clinotron.
