Specialization And Convergence In the Spanish Autonomies

Abstract

In the article the authors analyze the main aspects of the economic growth of a decentralized state on the example of Spain, which is de-jure a unitary state, but de-facto it is rather decentralized country. Representatives of the classical school of theories of regional growth insist on the obligatory presence of convergence among the regions. However, the example of Spain shows that the lack of convergence and the expressed specialization of the regions do not interfere with the socioeconomic development of the country and its regions.
