Abstract

A robust control algorithm is crucial but also challenging in deformable network problems with moving boundary, especially some net elements are easily distorted, and the “negative volume” elements will cause a failed network deformation. In order to create well-deformed network, in this paper, we present an improved control algorithm by analyzing the geometric characteristic of net element. These geometric constraints are concise but efficient to optimize the deformed network. Two cases are investigated to validate the advantage of the improved method, such as the comparing of different deformed nets and the plunging of a three-dimensional wing. The results show that the improved control algorithm can create better-deformed network than classical algorithms, not only reduces the distortion of net elements but also improves the overall robustness of the network.
