Abstract

Room temperature vulcanized (RTV) silicone rubber coating is effective to improve the contamination performance of porcelain and glass insulators. However, the long-term aging performance of RTV coating in the field has not been investigated so far. This report describes the results and analysis of field energized RTV coated porcelain insulators exposed for several years in various fields which are located in coastal, industrial, desert, and high humidity environments in the USA and Japan.
