Abstract
The Chinese community has greatly influenced Thailand's domestic development. Since the beginning of the XX century the Thai authorities began to view it as a factor that prevented the creation of a nation-state. The most decisive measures in resolving the so-called Chinese question were taken by Prime Minister Phibun Songkhram. This article examines the impact of his nationalist policies on the life of the local Chinese community.
