Abstract

A number of the fundamental issues have been reported, as well as theoretical considerations for perpendicular recording. In the present work, we have successfully demonstrated perpendicular recording of 80 GB/disk hard drive platform, using beveled single pole tip head and double layered perpendicular magnetic media with soft magnetic underlayer. Especially, we focused on the investigation of the drive with the intent to use as much of the existing drive technology as possible.
