Abstract

We propose a technique for 3D scanning based on a very simple device composed of a rotating platform and a cheap Web camera, both controlled by computer. Images from an object are taken under different viewing angles in a synchronized way by the camera and processed in order to allow the reconstruction of object shape in a very simple way. It works well for convex objects. Extensions to other complex objects are being studied.
