Abstract

In this paper, a more secure method for utilising reverse power flow to supply power to smart grids through a multi-port power electronic transformer (MPPET) is proposed. The method consists of a reverse power flow detection stage (RPFDS) electrically coupled to the point of common coupling (PCC), which differentiates between the total power generated on the grid and the actual load demand. A smart circuit breaker is triggered as soon as RPFDS signal is sensed. The MPPET receives power from RPF utilization substation.
