Abstract

In this paper, the Cuckoo search algorithm is used to find optimal tuning parameters for I-PD and PI-PD controllers. A comparative study between the I-PD and PI-PD controllers is performed, in which both controller performance has been compared by the Integral Square Error and Settling time. Three simulation examples of DC motor speed control are considered to demonstrate the superior performance of the PI-PD controller as compared to the I-PD controller in the presence of load disturbance.
