Abstract

This thesis investigate “ The Telling” as an act of speech in both German and Arabic Languages. The thesis aims at answering the following research questions: What is the function that the act of speech “ telling” attempt to achieve?, what is their text structure?, and which are the acts refere to the”telling” in the two languages?. In order to answer these questions, German and Arabic Novelles are analyzed, using the speechacttheorie. . The nominal sentence are preferred in the structure of the “telling” in both languages Arabic and German. We found that the exception structure is specialized in Arabic language of the Novell and Phraselogisms are existed in German Novells.
