Abstract

The traditional 2D urban planning management system with its low data visualization and weak spatial analysis capabilities is inadequate in meeting the needs of modern urban development. To address this issue, this paper reports on a 3D urban planning management system that was built using oblique image and 3D GIS technologies to create 3D scenes, but full using 2D planning information and urban planning scenarios to assist users in their decision-making. The system was built on Topword platform, using component development technology in combination with oblique imagery application for 3D modeling of a portion of the district of Hailaer in China.
