Abstract
To estimate the grid state often pseudo-measurements based on standard-load-profiles combined with PV-generation estimates are used. To increase the accuracy of the grid state estimation further measurement units can be introduced into the grid. To ensure a cost-effective operation of the grid, a near-optimal placement of the measurements is important. In this paper, different meter placement strategies with the goal to increase the estimation accuracy with minimal investment are applied to a German distribution grid and compared. As a result, the effectiveness of the placement strategies on the estimation accuracy are compared and benchmarked in regards to the computational efficiency, resulting in estimation accuracy and investment costs.
