Abstract

This paper presents a power curtailment based method to assess inter-regional total transfer capability (TTC) after large-scale integration of wind power into grids. Firstly, a mathematical model considering wind power correlation is established based on Copula function. Then TTC of each sample generated by Monte Carlo is solved one by one so as to screen valid samples. Moreover, a TTC bi-level assessment model is developed, in which wind power curtailment is minimized by wind output constraint, in order to improve the inter-regional TTC The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by experiments on test system PJM-5.
