Commentary II: The Cycle of Experience Re-Cycled: Then, Now ... Next?

Abstract

This commentary elaborates on the developmental history of the Cycle of Experience, and adds to the narrative of Seán Gaffney. The argument is made, in support of Gaffney's contention, that the Contacting Sequence and the Cycle of Experience describe the same fundamental biological and social process. By indicating the cultural milieu out of which the Cycle emerged and the motivation that supported it, a more robust picture is presented as to how the Cycle variation developed. Modifications over time are discussed, and the commentary ends with a statement of what the author considers a needed next step.
