Abstract

Summary Core data is the most reliable and representative source of information, however it is very expensive. It is the only thing that can be used for precise description of geological situation in a target formation including its depositional environment, petrophysical properties and oil saturation distribution, reservoir heterogeneity and compartmentalization degree induced by secondary processes. Despite the fact that core retrieving operation can increase well cost in few times only a little amount of core information is utilized during field development projects as a huge part of it is represented by qualitative description which is hard to be implemented into digital quantitative geological modeling process.
