Abstract

An analysis of operating properties of the Power Factor Correction (PFC) converter under high AC input voltage and light-load conditions is presented in the paper. Design-oriented analytical expressions are derived interval-by-interval at the converter switching frequency specifically near the AC input voltage zero crossing. The study reveals new physical insight into how the PFC converter operates to maintain the required output power and regulate the constant output voltage under these operating conditions. Simulation and experimental results are presented to facilitate the analysis with good correlation.
