Abstract
The author has considered influence on literary criticism of M. Menshikov during his work in the newspaper «Nedelya» of philosophical publicistic works of Leo Tolstoy «Confession» (1879 – 1883), «On life» (1887), «The Kingdom of God is within you» (1890 – 1893).
