Abstract

The radiation from a metamaterial-based two-arm spiral antenna is investigated, where the phase relationship of the excitation sources for the two arms (deviation phase) is varied to cause unbalanced-mode excitation. It is found that the radiation field in the antenna-axis direction decreases by 1-dB when the deviation phase reaches approximately 60 degrees.
